Ikim's journey is one of craftsmanship, community, and unwavering dedication. His passion for woodworking ignited in high school woodshop, laying the foundation for a career rooted in quality and precision. Since 1999, he has honed his skills in high-end cabinet shops, mastering the art of fine woodworking.
However, Ikim's vision extends beyond luxury. Growing up in a low-income community, he recognized the disparity between the need for quality home improvements and the affordability of such services. This realization sparked the creation of UNI Development Projects – a company committed to providing exceptional craftsmanship to all, regardless of their budget.
More Than a Contractor: A Community Partner
Ikim's commitment to community is deeply ingrained. His past involvement with the Clinton Fifth Ward Home Improvement Association, voter registration drives, and advocacy against unjust laws like the Rockefeller Law highlight his dedication to social justice. His work with the New Jersey Construction Compliance Alliance, advocating for construction jobs in low-income areas, further demonstrates his passion for empowering underserved communities.
He has also been a tireless advocate for youth, speaking at institutions like Kentoc in South Jersey and collaborating with grassroots organizations like The Source of Knowledge Bookstore to plan a trade school. He even pursued a recovery assistance course at Essex County College to better counsel and train young people in cabinetry and life skills.
